Hugo Bernard is inviting you to the Mackenzie Investments Open
A quick Q&A with Hugo Bernard:
What was it like growing up playing junior golf in Québec?
Golf Québec did such a great job with the juniors, they ran great tournaments with great volunteers at all their events and that really helped me grow as a player.
What are some of your favourite courses in Québec?
Club Laval-sur-le-lac is my home course and definitely one of my favourites, and then Memphrémagog is great too. It’s private, but one of the best courses in Canada for sure.
Was there a lot of support from home when you turned professional?
There was a ton of support, I was able to get a few sponsors and I really appreciate all the support from home and I’m super excited to head back to play in front of them at Elm Ridge next week.
To go back to the Mackenzie Investments Open to play as a professional, what’s it like seeing the love when you play in front of them?
It’s going to be fun. I remember two years ago I played with another guy from Québec and we had a pretty good crowd following. It’s definitely going to be pretty exciting.
What would it mean to break through to the next level and represent Québec?
That’s the main goal. We all want to be the first to get there and it’s been my goal since I was 16 or 17-years old and it would be a great accomplishment.
Finally, what would you say to Québec’s golf hopefuls?
I would tell them to set achievable goals and to work hard to reach them. But most of all, I would remind them to always have fun playing golf. Also, I would invite them to see us at the Mackenzie Investments Open. The performances of participating golf professionals will be a great source of inspiration for our young rising stars; it really will be a great show. I hope that many of them will come and cheer for us at Elm Ridge!
